INFORMATION FOR PARENTS & CARERS WHO CAN GO TO A HOT HOUSE PARTY PRIMARY SCHOOL SHOWS: PORT MACQUARIE-COFFS-SAWTELL-ARMIDALE. Primary school show does not happen in all markets. For those markets in which it does operate, children who attend should be in primary school years 3-6. The child should be a confident enough to handle a crowded & noisy environment. If not, wait until he or she is old enough to do so. If your child is below this age we DO NOT feel he or she has the social skills or attention span that will allow them to enjoy the event and suggest they don’t attend. Remember we can’t tell their ages SO IT IS UP TO YOU. Once he or she graduates to high school, we want them to move on to the high school show. However, some children (for a variety of reasons) feel more comfortable staying at the primary school show for a few months. While we do not encourage this, we do allow it in certain circumstances. Parents of children in this situation should contact us beforehand or at the very least make it known to staff on the night. HIGH SCHOOL SHOWS – Only currently enrolled high school students may attend. If your child has left school we are sorry but we do not encourage these children to attend. WHAT TO WEAR/WHAT TO BRING They are expected to arrive dressed in a tidy and suitable manner with FIRM CLOSED FOOTWEAR, not sandals or thongs. They are expected to be alcohol free (as they may be asked to undergo a breath test) and not “dog tired” (as this is a dance party and most kids dance all night, so arriving tired is not a good idea). Bring some money for a drink, soft drink and chips are sold. Water is available for free. You child will be expected to behave. If they misbehave you may be called to come and pick them up, so make sure they have your number or know where you are so they can contact you in the event of an emergency. It is amazing the number of kids who forget mum and dad’s phone number when they are stressed or get into trouble. It isn’t a bad idea if at least one person in a group has a mobile phone WITH SUFFICIENT CREDIT to contact mum or dad if they need to. WHAT NOT TO BRING Cigarettes/ Lighters / Matches / Sharp objects or Knives / Nail files / Sissors / Alcohol / Drugs (unless it is prescribed medication) /Bottles of any type or CHEWING GUM. Remember NO PASSOUTS. SECURITY Hot House Party staff, Licensed Security , Club staff & Volunteers all work together to try to give your child a safe and enjoyable experience. However we realise things can and do happen. If your child experiences bullying or harassment of any type, let he or she know to approach staff and let them know CLEARLY what has happened. We take security seriously. If he or she is unhappy with the result, ask for a manager. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR KIDS TO WALK THERE & WALK HOME This is undesirable and foolish. We ask that you make every effort to take your kids and drop them off at the show and to be there promptly when it finishes. If you live close to the venue, still make the effort to drop ff & pick up. TIMES Times are posted on the website and on the ticket. Try to be there on time to pick up your child. You are also welcome to enjoy the Club facilities before, during and after the show. Why not enjoy a meal at the Club. BAG SEARCHES All bags will be searched upon entry. Pockets will be checked and you will be asked to roll up baggy pants. BREATH TESTING Your child may be asked to submit to a breath test. If they refuse they will not gain entry. If they fail the breath test you will be called. If parents are not contactable, the Police are usually called. If they cannot contact the parents, DOCS may be contacted and your child taken into care until you can be contacted. PROOF OF IDENTITY/ I.D. For high school students, we ask ALL kids bring ID of some sort to prove who they are and what school they attend. Most schools have an ID card but if not, bring a bus pass, library card, birth certificate or letter from parents - WE WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE. SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN Remember it is noisy - dark – crowded. We are happy to entertain any child who enjoys music & can socialise with others. If your child has special needs , (eg wheel chair) we are happy to have them but we unfortunately don’t have the resources to guarantee them a good time. If you child has behavioural difficulties &/or has trouble relating to other kids in a positive social way , we cant solve these problems in 2 or 3 hours, and you really need to think about the effect on other kids if your child does attend. If a special needs child does attend, we ask you notify us un advance and be present on the night (even if you are in another area of the Club) so we can get hold of you quickly if the child needs you. HEAD LICE /SICKNESS Common sense is the order of the day here so use your good sense. EXPELLED OR SUSPENDED STUDENTS Unfortunately we don’t allow them to attend the events. DISCIPLINE POLICY We have a definite policy regarding persons who do not obey the rules. Contact the organisers to discuss.
